Connect with another class and discuss the characteristics of a good leader. Compare types of government with classes around the world. Find out the different forms of government in your town and city and what leaders are needed. Invite a local leader into your classroom in person or via Skype or Google Hangouts. Have your students do some research and then plan appropriate questions beforehand. Carry out an interview with the leader. Divide your students into different groups to work with other classrooms from around the country in Google Classroom or Edmodo. Post questions to one another and have them research the questions. Create a multimedia project on the US presidents using their quotations and sound clips of them. You can also put together some fun facts and historical details. Have students conduct mock interviews of a famous president. Have students use a program such as Tech4Learning Frames to record and animate the character.
